Install instructions

  1. Prepare your VR headset:
    • Ensure that your VR headset is charged or connected to a power source.
    • Turn on the developer mode for your VR headset. The process may vary depending on the headset you have. Consult the documentation or support resources specific to your headset to enable developer mode.
  2. Install SideQuest on your computer:
    • Visit the SideQuest website at https://sidequestvr.com/ and download the appropriate version for your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux).
    • Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
  3. Connect your VR headset to your computer:
    • Use a compatible USB cable to connect your VR headset to your computer. Ensure that the headset is properly recognized by your computer.
  4. Launch SideQuest:
    • Open SideQuest on your computer. It should automatically detect your connected VR headset. If not, make sure that the headset is properly connected and recognized by your computer.
  5. Enable installation from unknown sources on your VR headset:
    • Put on your VR headset and navigate to the settings or options menu.
    • Look for the developer settings or developer options and enable installation from unknown sources. Again, the process may vary depending on the specific headset you have. Refer to the documentation or support resources for your headset for detailed instructions.
  6. Find the APK you want to sideload:
    • Locate the APK file that you want to sideload onto your VR headset. Ensure that it is compatible with your headset.
  7. Install the APK via SideQuest:
    • In SideQuest, click on the "My Apps" tab.
    • Drag and drop the APK file onto the SideQuest window or click on the "Install APK" button.
    • SideQuest will initiate the installation process and display the progress. Be patient and let it complete.
  8. Grant permissions (if required):
    • If the APK you're installing requires specific permissions or access, your VR headset may prompt you to grant those permissions. Follow the on-screen instructions and grant the necessary permissions as requested.
  9. Launch the sideloaded app:
    • Once the installation is complete, the sideloaded app should appear in your VR headset's app library or home screen.
    • Put on your VR headset and navigate to the app section to find and launch the sideloaded app.
